When are Soil Evaluations required?

Septic Percolation (Perc) Testing

A Soil evaluation and percolation test is required to install a septic system. A Licensed Soil Evaluator must witness the testing with the Board of Health Agent present.

Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU)

Soil Evaluations are required to determine the Seasonal High Groundwater Elevation to ensure that your basement is not within the water table.

Stormwater Soil Testing

Soil Evaluations are also required to install proposed stormwater systems including trenches or prefabricated chambers.

Required by Board of Health

The Board of Health may require a Soil Evaluation to accompany a Title 5 Inspection or Building Permit.
